Filler FAQs: Where Exactly Can You Get Fillers Injected?

Rejuvenate without surgery! Dermal fillers are an excellent option for restoring youthful beauty without the downtime, scars, and incisions that surgery can bring. Treatment is quick, often 30 minutes or less and many patients can resume their regular activities immediately. Fillers are versatile and can rejuvenate most of the face, and a few unexpected areas too. Where exactly can you get fillers injected? Find out below and then call our offices to schedule your filler consultation with Dr. Dale or Dr. Michelle Abadir.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Today’s modern fillers are some of the best we’ve ever used. Years ago, collagen was the filler of choice, but results didn’t last long and many people were allergic. The fillers we now use are better than ever. Many are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in your body that provides lasting and natural looking filler results. Other fillers provide a framework to boost your own body’s collagen production. We also offer permanent fillers.
With so many options, there is truly a filler for most every patient. Our doctors are highly skilled injectors and have worked extensively with the many fillers we offer. We’ll help you find the right options to smooth and perfect your skin.

What Areas Can Receive Treatment with Fillers?

Fillers are versatile and aren’t just for the face. Do you have areas that could benefit from an increase in volume? Find out how fillers can shape and smooth your most troublesome areas:
• Facial Lines and Wrinkles- Lines, creases, and wrinkles are no match for dermal fillers. Many filler options can be used to smooth lines and wrinkles. Each filler has unique benefits and we’ll find the options that are most compatible with your trouble spots. Juvederm is an excellent hyaluronic filler consisting of tiny microscopic particles that instantly treats facial wrinkles. Restylane is also a hyaluronic filler with a larger particle size, more suitable for deeper lines and creases. Belotero is the one of the lightest fillers available and is used on fine lines around the eyes, mouth, and nose. Sculptra can be used to improve appearance of deep lines over time, helping to rebuild collagen levels.
• Chin- Some fillers can provide temporary enhancement, like results from a facial implant, without the need for surgery. We often use Radiesse to enhance the chin without an implant.
• Cheeks- The cheeks are one of the first areas to lose volume. Fillers like Juvederm Voluma XC can instantly restore volume to the cheeks, filling in hollows and restoring shape. Radiesse is another excellent option for restoring volume to facial hollows and sagging skin.
• Lips- Fillers are often used as a non-surgical lip augment option. Just one treatment can leave you with full, sensuous, and youthful lips for several months.
• Neck- Fillers can provide dramatic rejuvenation to the face, but many patients find their necks give their true age away. We’ve developed a unique combination treatment using the filler Sculptra and Thermage to fade wrinkles on the neck and to tighten skin. We can also add in a laser treatment if you a brown or red collar around the neck.
• Hands- If your hands have prominent veins or tendons, a filler treatment can help to restore volume. Radiesse is commonly used for hand rejuvenation and can be combined with other treatments like Thermage or IPL to improve the appearance and quality of the skin.

How to Achieve the Perfect Valentine’s Day Look with Injectables

abadir-986

Valentine’s Day is coming up, and you want to look your best for your true love. Of course, you can revamp your wardrobe, redo your hair, or even change your makeup routine; but wouldn’t it be better if you can change your look down to the smallest details? This romantic holiday calls for a complete transformation—one that’s as natural and long-lasting as possible. Abadir Associates is here to tell you how to achieve the perfect Valentine’s Day look.

GIVE YOURSELF A LIFT (NON SURGICAL)!

The latest trend in injections are two products which, when injected into the upper area of the cheeks, usually along the cheekbones, not only replace some of the volume we all loose with age, but actually significantly LIFT!

These products are Restylane’s “LYFT” and Juvederm’s “VOLUMA”.   Very different from the original Restylane and Juvederm, they are more “robust” and able when injected in the appropriate sites, to actually give an immediate and noticeable lifting of the cheeks, thus improving laugh lines and the lower cheeks. Placement varies according to the particular patient. The amount of “filling” is not excessive (each syringe only contains 1cc—a fifth of a teaspoon—most patients use 1 or 2!).  However the effect is instant, pleasing, giving you a more youthful appearance. Give yourself the gift of Voluma or Lyft!

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin

These neuromodulators are all similar and contain botulin toxin Type A. When injected into a muscle, they weaken, or completely prevent, that muscle’s contraction. Where the muscle in causing the development of undesirable lines or expression, such as frowning, the result is aesthetically pleasing.

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are the only three FDA-approved neuromodulators, although more could soon be approved. Drs. Dale and Michelle Abadir have been injecting Botox for over 20 years and have vast experience.

Lesser known Dysport and Xeomin have similar actions. Dysport takes effect a little faster, and Xeomin has no protein. While this is usually insignificant, on rare occasions patients have developed antibodies to the proteins in Botox and Dysport. These antibodies destroy the product when injected, making it ineffective (the same way antibodies to disease-causing viruses and bacteria will kill them).

Drs. Dale and Michelle Abadir will discuss with you the various types of neuromodulators, benefits and likely duration (which varies depending on which muscles they are used in), and recommend the best for you!

Injectables: What You Need to Know

BotoxSurgery isn’t the only way to rejuvenate. Many of our patients are loving the results they get from injectable treatments. We offer a wide variety of injectables and can treat everything from wrinkles to facial volume loss and even double chins. What’s your favorite injectable cosmetic treatment? If you don’t yet have a favorite of your own, come see us and fix up your trouble spots. You’re going to love injectables!

Neuromodulators: Botox and Dysport

Fade crow’s feet and frown lines with Botox. A powerful neuromodulator, this injectable temporarily halts muscle activity that causes certain types of wrinkles. Results appear just a few days after treatment and last 3-4 months. We also offer Dysport, a similar injectable treatment.

Our patients love Botox and Dysport for their ease. The treatment itself takes about 15 minutes, start to finish, and you can resume your regular activities immediately. Come in for treatment during your lunch and still have time to grab a bite to eat on your way back to work. No downtime!

Dermal Fillers: Juvederm, Restylane, Sculptra, etc.

Fill in wrinkles and smooth out your skin with dermal fillers. These injectable fillers can sculpt, shape, and contour with effective results. Dermal fillers can also fill in lines and wrinkles and augment the lips. We even use them for hand rejuvenation. Results are often instant and can last as long as two years, depending on the fillers used.

We offer a wide range of fillers, including several hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin. It is very biocompatible and doesn’t require pre-treatment testing. During your initial visit we’ll examine your skin and make recommendations on the best filler options for you. Fillers can be used on their own, combined with other fillers, paired with Botox/Dysport, and even used in conjunction with other cosmetic treatments.

Fat Dissolvers- Kybella

For the dreaded double chin, we offer an exciting injectable option, Kybella. This injectable contains deoxycholic acid, a substance that aids the body in the breakdown of dietary fat. When injected under the chin it destroys fat cells, providing lasting improvement in the appearance of your profile.

Kybella is completely non-surgical. Downtime is minimal, if any. Most patients need a couple of treatments to achieve their best results.

Love your look with injectables. Call our offices to learn about the best options for you.

What Type of Lip Treatments Are Available? Which One Is Right for Me?

What Type of Lip Treatments Are Available? Which One Is Right for Me?Pucker up! Give your luscious lips a little extra oomph with one of our lip treatments. If your lips have thinned with age (or if you just want a fuller lip), we have a variety of treatment options available and surgery isn’t needed. Take a look at your lip enhancement options below and call us to schedule your appointment. The results are natural looking, full, sensuous, and youthful, just like you want your lips to be. MWAH!

Lip Injections: A Non-Surgical Alternative to Implants?

Lip implants aren’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy fuller lips. Lip injections are a cost effective and less invasive way to fill in and perfect the lips. Yes, the results are temporary, but many of the treatments take just a few minutes and the results are long lasting. Plus, injectable treatments don’t require incisions or a painful recovery period.

If you’ve got questions about lip injections, ask us. We’d love to help you understand how these treatments can help you enhance your lips without surgery.

Botox and Dysport

Many of the lines and wrinkles around the mouth are caused by muscle activity. Botox and Dysport can relax these muscles. The wrinkles fade away leaving you with a younger looking appearance. Results can last up to 4 months per treatment. Botox isn’t just for crow’s feet; it’s a great option for the lips.

Botox and Dysport are both a type of botulinum toxin. This cosmetic treatment is very popular; last year about 6.7 million cosmetic treatments were performed.

Lip Fillers

Dermal fillers are another option for enhancing the lips. We can use fillers like Restylane, Juvederm, and to sculpt the lips, fill in hollows, and lift the skin. Results are often immediate and can last for up to a year.

We offer a variety of different filler options to ensure natural looking, stunning results for each patient. Each filler has a different consistency. We’ll choose the best filler (or combination of fillers) for your problem areas and sculpt your lips to perfection. We also offer a permanent lip filler for interested patients.

Surgical Corrections

As the body ages some changes to the lips require surgical correction. We can remove the overhanging skin at the corners of the mouth and shorten the distance between the nose the upper lip (this distance increases with age) for a more youthful look.

Which Option is Right for Me?

With so many options available, it can be difficult to choose a treatment option. Come in and talk with us. We can help you decide which lip injections will help you meet your goals. Call us today at 914-937-7593 and book your appointment today.

Westchester Dermatologists Explain Common Cosmetic Procedures

Corrective skin care treatments can help patients overcome cosmetic challenges and feel more comfortable in their skin. However, knowing which procedure is right for a specific skin care challenge can be confusing. In fact, two patients with the same condition may not necessarily be given the same treatment. This is due to the fact that producing positive results in cosmetic dermatology requires taking an individualized approach.

To help patients better understand available skin care treatments, Westchester dermatologists from Abadir Associates have put together answers to some commonly asked skin care questions:

What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are different brands of botulinium toxin type A, which are very similar, though not the exact same. Cosmetic dermatologists use them to treat wrinkles, including frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines and even vertical neck bands. Both injection treatments are non-invasive and help relax the muscles. Even a small amount of either can help improve lip lines, lift the corners of the mouth, and smooth the chin. A major difference, is that some patients see results more quickly with Dysport than with Botox. Which treatment you ultimately choose will depend on your consultation with your cosmetic dermatologist.

What are filling injections used for?

Filling injections, such as Restylane, Juvederm, Sculptra and Radiesse, do exactly what their name implies: they “fill.” They are often used to fill smile lines, undereye circles, lines at the sides of the chin, and hollows – and they can even be combined with Botox or Dysport treatments for patients with extra deep frown lines. Most fillers last from 6 months to more than a year. However, some patients also have the option for permanent filling injections. To find out whether you are a candidate for this type of treatment, talk to one of Abadir Associates’ qualified Westchester dermatologists.

What is Thermage?

Thermage is a treatment that is used to tighten skin without surgery. It has become increasingly popular over the past years due to vast improvements in the technology. Thermage does not fill wrinkles or relax muscles, but it does help patients see more successful results with Botox and filling injections, as both treatments work much better when the skin is tighter and firmer. Thermage can be used anywhere on the body, including the face and neck, eyelids, hands, thighs , knees, arms, buttocks and abdomen. All tighten significantly with Thermage, and with minimal downtime. Additionally, the treatment can be used in conjunction with “mini liposuction” of jowls and under chin fat.

What are lasers used for in cosmetic skin care?

There are many types of lasers. Some are specific for removing prominent blood vessels, tattoos and dark pigment. Meanwhile, others are used for reducing unwanted hair and removing skin discolorations, fine lines and scarring. At Abadir Associates, we have a variety of lasers for different problems. If you think you could benefit from this technology, ask us and we’ll guide you through it.

Is there a treatment for removing sun or age spots?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a safe and effective treatment that is used to treat sun spots, age spots, and other skin care issues like Rosacea. It can reduce or eliminate the need for make up by making the skin a more even tone, and it can even contribute to a more youthful, creamy complexion. Ask us about IPL and whether it can help your current skin care problem.
