Why Millennials are Loving Botox

Most people are, to some degree, familiar with Botox and other dermal fillers. In the past, these treatments have conjured images of older men and women seeking to reverse the effects of aging. In fact, many still believe plastic surgery to be the refuge of older generations clinging to their youth. Little do they know how wrong they are.

Plastic surgery has recently taken over as one of the most popular surgical industries with cosmetic procedures hitting roughly $15 billion in annual earnings. What you may find surprising, though, is that millennials make up a bigger percentage of cosmetic procedure patients than ever.

In only half a decade, Botox treatments among people between the ages of 19 and 34 increased by 87%. When exactly did this shift take place, and why are younger patients considering Botox every year?

Joining Reality with Expectation

Unlike previous generations, millennials grew up in the age of the internet. By adolescence, social media was already a staple of life for many of them. This has put a greater emphasis on our appearance and aesthetic and how we present ourselves than ever before.

From selfies and photoshoots to cosplay and beyond, more young people are taking an active role in their appearance. For many, this doesn’t just mean exercise and a healthy diet, but also the occasional trip to a plastic surgeon for a cosmetic touch-up.

A Preventive Approach

While many consider Botox to be a treatment that reverses the effects of aging, millennials are starting to understand its true benefits. By starting Botox treatments at a younger age – as young as the early 20s for some – the wear and tear of time can be prevented before it begins.

With well-timed treatments from a younger age, Botox can help prevent the formation of wrinkles, laugh lines, and crow’s feet before they appear. By starting treatments early, patients can retain their youthful appearance longer without the need for more invasive procedures.

Doing Away with Taboo

It’s no secret that millennials are more progressive and liberal than the generations that came before them. Part of that attitude is the normalization of subjects and practices that were once considered taboo. We live in a new age that celebrates the individual and challenging the status quo.

Where once plastic surgery was seen as the bastion of age-fearing older women, it is now seen as a source of empowerment for young women and men alike. More and more practitioners are reporting patients younger than 30 requesting cosmetic procedures, and more young people than ever are willing to openly discuss their desires and experiences related to plastic surgery.

Discover the Benefits of Botox

You don’t have to be a model or an Instagram influencer to benefit from Botox treatments. Looking and feeling your best is one of the keys to living your best life. It’s never too early to start looking ahead to prevent the effects of aging, and Botox may just be the solution you need.

Contact the office of Abadir Associates in Rye Brook, NY to schedule a consultation to find out how Botox treatments can help you.

Alternative Uses for Botox that May Surprise You

The vast majority of people have heard of Botox. It is well known as a cosmetic procedure used by those hoping to give themselves a smoother, more youthful appearance.

While there is no doubt that its cosmetic uses are what have made the treatment so popular, many don’t realize that Botox has the ability to treat a variety of other conditions that you might not have expected. Let’s take a look at a few of these alternative uses that you may find surprising.

Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a condition that causes excessive sweating and can be a real issue for those affected by it. Fortunately, Botox may be an unlikely solution to this problem.

By applying the injection directly to the areas most affected, sweating can be reduced by as much as 87 percent! This can be life-changing for those who have lived with hyperhidrosis for most of their lives. More confidence, fewer loads of laundry, and no more sweat stains.

The best part is that it might even be covered by your insurance! If prescription antiperspirants and oral medications don’t do the trick, it’s likely that your insurance carrier will cover Botox treatments.

Frequent Migraines

Migraines are painful and maddening experiences, and if you’ve ever experienced them, you know just how desperate they can make you for relief. For some, though, that relief is only a brief respite, as migraines are a chronic issue.

Current medications used to treat frequent migraines range from antidepressants to blood pressure drugs. However, you might be surprised to learn that the correct application of Botox injection can result in fewer headaches. For those who suffer from chronic migraines, this can make a huge difference in the quality of their lives.

TMJ

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, or TMJ, is a condition that affects the joint in the jaw. Those afflicted with TMJ often experience pain in one or both of the joints that connect the jaw to the skull. This can cause difficulty eating, locking of the joint, and persistent facial aches. Needless to say, this can make a number of normal activities into uncomfortable chores.

By injecting Botox into the jaw, the muscles that control the joint are relaxed, leading to relief from pain and many of the other symptoms associated with TMJ. Many dentists recommend Botox treatment for this condition, and the procedure is often covered by insurance.

Eyelid Spasms

Sometimes, the connections in our brain don’t behave the way they’re supposed to. When this happens, it can cause a cascade of unexpected problems, ranging from mildly annoying to nearly debilitating. For some, this takes the form of blepharospasms, or eyelid spasms. This can lead to droopy eyelids and uncontrollable twitches. The spasms can be so severe in some patients that they are unable to keep their eyes open enough to see.

One of the properties of Botox is its ability to cause temporary paralysis, effectively blocking the way the nerves communicate with the muscle. Used for this purpose, the connection between the brain and spasming muscle can be cut off, providing relief from the symptoms of the condition.

Find Out More

Doctors are finding more uses for Botox all the time, and this list is only a small portion of the treatment’s applications. The effects can vary from patient to patient, and typically last around three to four months. While it may be a temporary solution, it can still provide relief for a variety of chronic conditions.

To find out more about the alternative uses of Botox, contact Abadir Associates in Rye Brook, NY to schedule a consultation with our doctor.

Travel Skin Care Tips: Maintain Your Beauty Routine on The Go

beauty routine on the goTraveling to new locations can be an exciting adventure, but nothing can turn a great trip sour like discovering an unwanted blemish or uncomfortably dry skin during your journey. Instead of abandoning your skincare routine and its hard-earned results, consider adding these steps to keep your skin clear and beautiful during your next great adventure.

Drink plenty of water

Staying hydrated with plenty of water is the key to success when maintaining your existing skincare routine on vacation. Lots of water not only hydrates skin cells from within but can also help your body stay in sync even while traveling.

Moisturize and protect at the same time

If you’re heading to a new climate, planning is the key to keeping skin looking great. It can take your skin a few days to become accustomed to changes in humidity, temperature, and environment. To prepare your skin for new surroundings, be sure to moisturize and protect with a trusted sunscreen or high-quality skin care product that contains SPF. This will help you avoid potential sunburns while protecting your skin from new, unfamiliar elements.

Think ahead

There’s something about airports, airplanes and long car rides that can leave skin feeling dry, dirty and greasy all at the same time. Stay fresh-faced and alert by carrying your favorite cleansing wipes, oil absorbing tissues and moisturizer in your carry-on for easy cleaning mid-route.  Your skin will thank you for the reprieve, especially if your trip includes long layovers in airports or extended travel to your destination.

Pack Light

While it’s tempting to bring all your favorite makeup for an impromptu photo shoot, it’s better to stick with the essentials when traveling. As traveling can induce stress-related acne, heavy makeup may even worsen inflamed and tired skin. Trying sticking to just a few favorite tools – foundation or BB cream, mascara and blush to keep your focus on your trip and experience, not your smoky eye.

Invest in travel containers

Finding small travel sized versions of your favorite products can be difficult, especially on short notice. Rather than lugging around full-sized bottles of moisturizer or toner, get TSA-approved containers from your local drugstore or online and fill them at home. Not only will you save on product, but you’ll also be better prepared to stick to your skincare routine throughout your trip.

Need more pointers? Schedule your next visit!

Whether your trip is for business or pleasure, being able to bring your skincare routine along as you travel can add an important sense of normalcy to hectic and busy schedules. For more tips on keeping beautiful, healthy skin while traveling, be sure to schedule a consultation with Drs. Dale and Michelle Abadir before you leave!

How Can Body Shaping Treatments Complement Your Weight Loss?

Losing a lot of weight is a significant accomplishment. The months spent in the gym, watching diets and slowing seeing the pounds drop off requires substantial patience from patients. Once you’ve reached your goal weight, many feel more confident in the way clothes fit now that they’ve slimmed down. With body shaping procedures, you can further enhance your hard work and improve your confidence.

Why Body Shaping and Weight-Loss go Hand in Hand weight loss and body shaping

Losing significant weight isn’t always accompanied by a tighter, more toned figure. Whether your skin will bounce back to a slimmer physique depends on the condition of your collagen and elastin cells. When weight is gained, the skin stretches out to accommodate excess fat cells. This stretches collagen and elastin fibers beyond their usual bandwidth.  Depending on how long a patient spent at the higher weight, collagen and elastin fibers may become damaged and cause the skin to remain stretched out. As a result, patients who’ve spent substantial time significantly overweight and then lose weight are often left with some excess skin that stubbornly refuses to go back.

For these individuals, body shaping procedures are the natural last step in completing a long weight loss journey. Surgical and non-surgical solutions can help tighten loose skin, allowing close to fit better. Depending on where treatments are used, some patients may even find themselves looking (and feeling) younger and more vibrant.

In other cases, excess skin isn’t so much the problem as stubborn pockets of fat. For patients who work out regularly but never seem to make any progress on a particularly resistant midsection, body shaping can be a more effective and noticeable alternative. Some treatments, such as liposuction, offers patients the chance to permanently remove these pockets. So long as the patient maintains the same weight, they shouldn’t see any fat return to the treatment area.

What Are My Options?

Like any other cosmetic treatment, body shaping procedures are uniquely tailored to the person receiving care. While there are plenty of available treatments out there, talking to your cosmetic specialist and communicating your goals is the best way of achieving your ideal figure. Can Fat Come Back After Liposuction?

Since the procedure first hit the market, liposuction has become among the most popular body contouring treatments available. From its minimal invasive nature to diverse application, it’s no wonder why women and men are turning to this solution as the ultimate fat removal treatment.

However, questions continue to swirl around life after liposuction. One common misconception that constantly comes up for our patients comes from the longevity of treatment in the face of aging bodies and changing body composition. To put it bluntly: can fat come back after liposuction?

Looking at Liposuction? Understand How Fat Works First

While it may seem like an easy yes or no question, the answer is more complicated than it may appear. To better understand the nuances of whether fat can come back after liposuction, it’s critical that patients understand how fat cells work and how adipose tissue develops.

To start, most of your body’s cells grow and die over the course of your lifetime and shed through the body’s metabolic processes. Fat cells are very different. Instead of developing and dying after a certain number of days or weeks, fat cells shrink and expand as a patient’s weight fluctuates. As a result, when an individual puts on pounds, fat cells grow and multiply.

When a person does lose weight, these fat cells don’t simply go away. Instead, they shrink in size but stay in place until the patient puts on more weight, where they expand and multiply again. This shrinkage without fat cell loss is the culprit behind especially stubborn fat pockets that can seem especially resistant to exercise.

In order to remove fat cells for good, patients physically must get rid of the cells. New cosmetic surgery techniques have made this possible in several different ways, either through topical treatments like CoolSculpting or more permanent and invasive options like liposuction. However, while these solutions can remove unwanted fat bulges, there’s a reason they aren’t a substitute for weight-loss.

Liposuction isn’t a Weight Loss Treatment

During liposuction, a cannula is used to remove excess fat cells from the thighs, abdomen, back, arms, hips, and buttocks. By physically removing these cells, if patients do gain a couple pounds, the extra weight is not likely to return to these targeted areas as there are no longer fat cells to grow or shrink.

However, significant weight gain can accumulate anywhere on the body, regardless of whether it has been liposuctioned before.  While fat cells may have been removed from certain areas, they can accumulate in these treated areas if enough weight is gained and there is nowhere else in the body to put it. Substantial weight gain after liposuction cannot only negate your surgery results, but it can also have a negative impact on your health. As fat cells have been removed from treated areas, excess fat cells may first develop visceral fat around critical organs, increasing the risk of chronic health problems.

Finally, liposuction represents a highly precise form of cosmetic surgery designed to sculpt and reshape bodies. True weight-loss procedures like bariatric surgery are engineered and tailored to tackle the cause of weight-gain and retention. Using liposuction as a substitute yields less-than-satisfactory results and frustrated patients.

What to Consider Before Liposuction

At Abadir Associates, we strive to provide our patients with all the information needed to make an intelligent and educated decision about their cosmetic treatment. If you’re thinking about undergoing liposuction, be sure to consider the following before committing:

Liposuction is a Contouring Procedure, Not a Weight-Loss Substitute.

While the results may seem one and the same, it’s important to note that liposuction is not going to lead to weight-loss. However, this procedure is an excellent option for patients who are trying to contour their bodies after substantial weight-loss or giving birth.

Best Results Come When Patients Achieve their Goal Weight Before their Treatment.

Achieving your goal weight not only helps improve your overall lifestyle, but it can ensure your liposuction procedure is as successful as possible.

A healthy diet and exercise are fundamental to maintaining liposuction results.

To avoid reversing the results of your liposuction procedure, it’s critical that patients maintain roughly the same weight and body composition after treatment. With a healthy diet and regular exercise, most patients find this easy to attain.

Achieve your best self at Abadir Associates

Skincare Habits to Adopt in the New Year

Did your New Year’s resolution include taking better care of yourself? If it did, did you include taking better care of your skin? As the largest system in your body, skin is exposed to harsh environmental elements, trauma, and the aging process – factors that can all take a toll on its health and ability to protect your internal organs. While you’re pulling together your new habits and paying closer attention to how you care for the rest of your body, consider adding the following habits and practices into your regimen this year.

Moisturize

You’ve heard it before, and we’re saying it again. Moisturization is the key to healthy, younger looking skin. Whether you’re just starting to pay close attention to your skin, or you’ve been searching to the fountain of youth, making moisturization a key element of your skincare regimen should be a top priority. When properly hydrated and cared for, skin produces the right amount of sebum, reducing the risk of acne outbreak. Moisturized skin also helps reduce the visible signs of aging by adding much-needed hydration to cells that gradually lose their ability to hold in moisture.

To find the right moisturization strategy for your skin, start determining your skin type then work with a professional to find the right daily ointment.

Sunscreen is your friend

Another critical element to healthy skin is sunscreen. Whether it’s overcast and rainy or hot and bright outside, harmful rays from the sun are always present. Without proper protection, these rays can irreversibly damage skin. At Abadir Associates, we recommend that all patients invest in a high-quality sunblock or moisturizer that contains sunscreen. Not only can sunscreen help slow the development of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots, but it also is critical in reducing your risk of developing skin cancer.

Step up your cleansing routine

Clear, radiant skin doesn’t happen overnight – it takes close care and a solid, effective routine. Start by making sure you take off your makeup every night before bed. While a cleansing wipe can work just fine, an oil cleanser will not only take care of the makeup but will also remove any leftover oils and lotions that accumulated in your pores during the day. Finish up your routine by using a water-based soap to wash away sweat and dirt.

Invest in a professional exfoliation treatment

Dull skin, acne, and other blemishes can be blamed on accumulated dead skin cells. While an at-home exfoliation can help provide some relief, only a professional treatment can thoroughly remove dead skin cells and reveal glowing, healthy skin cells. Thanks to innovations in dermatological treatments, patients have a wealth of treatment options ranging from traditional chemical peels to laser resurfacing.

In addition to helping reduce potential breakouts, these facial rejuvenation procedures can help diminish the appearance of aging. Depending on the procedure you choose, you can expect results to las last up to several months. Often, our patients only visit a few times a year for touch-up treatments to keep their skin looking radiant.

Can You Gift Someone Skincare for the Holidays?

It’s the time of year where many of us are going through our holiday lists to make sure we’ve gotten something for those who we care about most. Rather than getting your loved ones something that will go unused, consider getting them the gift of self-care with professional skincare?

The True Value of Gifting Skincare

Gifting skincare is a great way of giving friends and family the chance to focus on their own health and wellness for a change. While we may make resolutions at the beginning of the year to take better care of ourselves, consistent self-care is often the first to fall to the wayside. Work stress, hectic home schedules, and other aspects of life can quickly swallow up time, energy and resources that could otherwise be spent of self-care.

While the choice to undergo professional treatment is certainly personal, gifting procedures can be thoughtful and done in a way that is sensitive to the personal nature of care.

How to Purchase Skincare for as a Gift

There are several different ways to go about gifting skincare. At Abadir Associates, we’ve pulled together our tips for giving professional treatments to friends and family members.

Confirm the desire for professional care:

Most close friends and family members may have been able to pick up from passing conversation that the recipient is looking for more ways to care for themselves. Given the personal nature of this gift, having confirmation that they would be receptive to treatment can help you avoid any awkwardness that may arise from purchasing such a personal gift.

Give as a gift card

When giving skincare and other professional medical treatments, knowing what you’ll be gifting is an important factor. Some find it easiest to give gift cards to a preferred dermatologist. This way, the loved one can go through the consultation process and work with a skin specialist to develop a comprehensive treatment strategy that best suits their needs. Others choose to gift specific treatments that they know their loved one has long considered. Some of the most popular procedures purchased as gifts at our practice include:

Dermal Fillers

Options like Juvederm, Radiesse, and Restylane are excellent options at almost every age. Designed to add volume to different parts of the face, dermal fillers have been successfully used to help diminish the appearance of wrinkles as well as add natural-looking volume to the lips.

Botox and Dysport

Another popular form of injectable cosmetic dermatology, Botox and Dysport are among our most frequently gifted treatment options at Abadir Associates. In addition to being used to stall existing wrinkles and lines, these botulinum-based treatments are gaining popularity as a proactive treatment against aging.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure perfect for smoothing away fine lines, wrinkles, scars and stretch marks. During the procedure, a mechanized device is used to stimulate your skin’s natural healing process and increase collagen and elastin production.

Chemical Peels

Perhaps among the most comprehensive skin care treatments, chemical peels are an excellent way to rejuvenate skin and restore a patient’s “glow”. Gifting several sessions can be a great way of helping a loved one start their new year with smooth, clear skin.

Give the Gift of Skincare at Abadir Associates

Give a gift that you know will be appreciated and put to good use. At Abadir Associates, our specialists can help you give the gift of skincare and self-love to your loved ones. To learn more, call our team at 914-937-7593 and schedule your consultation. Together, we’ll help you find the perfect solution for your friend or family member.

Signs of Aging Hands and How to Treat Them

Do you ever examine your hands and wonder whose they are? While often overlooked, hands bear the brunt of aging and often show the passage of time much faster than the face and neck. From age spots to wrinkles, changes to our hands happen quickly and almost without warning.

What causes hands to age?

Our hands play a critical role in our daily lives. Beyond facilitating our actions and expressing our emotions, hands are also exposed to the elements on a daily basis. Decreased elastin and collagen production combined with sun damage change the texture of skin. Some of the most common signs of aging include:

Age Spots

Brown spots develop as a result of time spent outside in the sun and gradually increase in size over the years. While age spots are often mistaken for freckles or confused with melanoma, these hyperpigmentations are completely benign. Aesthetic treatment options that patients commonly choose to address their age spots include cryotherapy, laser therapy, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and lightening creams/lotions.

Thinning Skin

Your face isn’t the only place to show signs of lost collagen and elastin. When skin on the hands begins to lose its elasticity, the skin also loses its fullness. Soon, veins become more noticeable, and the skin gains a thin paper-like texture. Options for treatment include fillers like Juvederm and fat transfer. For individuals with very large veins, these non-surgical solutions may not sufficiently hide newly visible veins. In this instances, our team may recommend sclerotherapy.

Wrinkles

Who knew your hands could also become wrinkled? As mentioned, when elastin and collagen production slow, skin becomes thinner and begins to sag, creating distinctive wrinkles across the area. When it comes to tackling this texture change on hands, options like light chemical peels and laser treatment can help tighten and rejuvenate skin. Between appointments, our doctors may recommend using a retinol or glycolic acid lotion.

Actinic keratoses

These rough, dry patches develop when hands are exposed to UV lights in the form of tanning beds or natural sunlight. Often appearing as a cluster, actinic keratoses is considered a precancer to squamous cell carcinoma, the second most common form of skin cancer. As a result, removal of AKs when they are still small can help protect your health. After a biopsy has been completed, our Westchester County dermatologists can recommend the appropriate treatment for your condition.

General Tips for Preserving Your Skin

In addition to individually treating these common signs of aging, patients can incorporate certain steps to keep their hands from betraying their true age. For starters, we strongly recommend daily moisturizing with a good, high-quality hand lotion. Not only does intensive moisture help skin maintain its ability to retain moisture, it can help prolong the results of your hand rejuvenation.

Hand protection is another overlooked but important step in keeping your hands looking younger longer. Our hands are exposed to a lot on a regular basis. Protecting them with gloves when cleaning or handling harsh chemicals can help minimize potential damage and preserve your results.

Beyond at home care, rejuvenation is an ongoing process that requires professional support. In addition to a robust home care routine, regularly visiting a dermatologist for rejuvenation treatments and recommendations can help ensure you and your hands retain their youthful appearance. In Westchester County, Abadir Associates offers a wealth of rejuvenation treatments for patients looking to look and feel their absolute best. Craft the Perfect Cold Weather Skincare Routine with these Tips

With winter right around the corner, do you have your cold weather skin care routine ready? While it may not seem like it, winter weather and behavior can impact your skin’s health and elasticity more than the summer heat. Between freezing temperatures outside and heaters turned all the way up inside, it’s no surprise that skin tends to dry out and crack during the winter months. Not only does this diminish your natural, supple appearance, cracked skin can also be especially painful.

If you haven’t already, spend some time reevaluating and updating your daily skin routine to ensure it best meets your needs and keeps your skin looking fresh all winter long.

Watch the Heat

With the nights dipping into near-freezing temperatures, ultra-hot showers and roaring fires can seem like the perfect way to end any winter day. However, these ways of staying warm can negatively impact your skin. Raising the temperature on your shower and thermostat can quickly dry out the air at home, leaving your skin susceptible to becoming dry and flaky. Rather than cranking up the temperature (and utility bill!), keep the thermostat a comfortable cool and invest in a good humidifier to add much-needed moisture to your home. Lower indoor temperatures also have the added benefit of leaving you more alert during the day and more likely to sleep well at night.

Just as high indoor temps can dry out your skin, so can super-hot showers. We recommend taking shorter, warm (not hot) showers. Not only will you still get just as clean, you reduce the risk of stripping your skin of its natural oils and moisture thereby increasing the likelihood of your skin becoming drier and losing its natural glow.

Maximize Moisture

A diligent moisturizing routine and product can make or break a winter skincare regimen. In addition to creating a skin-friendly environment, it’s incredibly important you physically care for your skin. This includes investing in a high-quality moisturizer for your face and body as well as regularly applying the cream daily. Looking to keep your feet soft and supple? Try applying moisturizer to dry feet and covering them with socks as you sleep to prevent moisture loss.

For all outdoor excursions, we recommend choosing a moisturizer with some form of sunblock. Even though you’ll be covered with clothes, the bulk of the winter, harmful UVA and UVB rays can still damage your skin.

Stay Hydrated & Healthy

While winter months certainly call for rounds of hot cocoa and mulled wine, your skin needs good old-fashioned H2O to stay supple and beautiful looking. Be sure to continue drinking at least eight glasses of water per day to stay hydrated – your skin will thank you!

Between nearly monthly feasts and get-togethers, it can be difficult to stay dedicated to a skin-healthy diet – after all, who doesn’t want to indulge in the extra piece of pumpkin pie or cheesecake? When it comes to your skincare, it’s critical to remember that moderation is key. Between gatherings with family and friends, be sure to enjoy antioxidant-rich fruits and veggies, monitor sugar and fat intake and take time to exercise. These simple steps can help mitigate unwanted flare-ups and keep skin looking clear throughout the winter.

Be Picky About Products

A high-quality moisturizer isn’t the only product investment we recommend making. During the winter months, your skin is already at a higher likelihood of drying out. To help protect it, try limiting exfoliation frequency to just once a week and invest in alcohol-free skincare products as well as mild soaps. These solutions are gentle enough to avoid damaging vulnerable skin cells while still thoroughly cleaning your skin.

Find Your Solution at Abadir Associates

Not sure where to start your skincare routine evaluation? We can help. At Abadir Associates, our dedicated team is available to help patients fill the gaps in their winter skincare routines with treatments that preserve and protect skin health. To get started, call (914) 937-7593 today and schedule your consultation.

What You Need to Know About Submental Liposuction

Also known as a double chin, excess submental fat is a common condition that affects countless men and women. While the condition was once considered a side effect of aging, the truth is that any patient can develop excess tissue, regardless of age.

Rather than going the traditional route for double chin removal, more patients facing this problem are choosing submental liposuction – a fast, minimally-invasive application of the liposuction technique to this confidence crusher.

What is Submental Liposuction

To better understand how submental liposuction works, it’s important to understand how fat works. Fat cells (sometimes referred to collectively as adipose tissue) expand and shrink over time. For some, this tissue develops around the midsection, thighs or arms. For others, extra fat appears beneath the chin. While fat cells may shrink with diet and exercise, new studies have shown that new fat cells are created quickly and are nearly impossible to remove once they’ve developed. Even a vigorous diet and exercise routine can’t fully remove excess adipose tissue once it has formed unless the cells are physically removed or destroyed.

That’s where liposuction comes in. Unlike completely non-invasive options, liposuction physically removes extra cells and adds definition to the target area. Submental liposuction, or microliposculpture, uses mini cannulas to gently remove excess fat cells from the lower chin and along the jawbone. This results in a beautifully contoured face and restored self-confidence.

Interested? Here’s what you need to know about this procedure:

Submental Liposuction is Less-Invasive, but not Non-Invasive

Traditionally, facelifts have been the primary solution for patients looking to lose stubborn double chins. There’s no doubt that facelifts are effective. The procedure is tried and true and for patients who also face skin laxity and other consequences of aging, is often the most effective option. However, surgical facelifts require lengthy treatment time and recovery. Not all patients have the time nor are as enthused by the idea of undergoing major cosmetic surgery in pursuit of a more youthful visage.

In contrast, submental liposuction offers a less invasive alternative. As the treatment uses strategically inserted cannulas to remove extra tissue rather than scalpels, patients face fewer surgical sites, stiches, and bruising. While there is some recovery time involved with this form of double chin removal, it is much less than that associated with traditional surgery.

Fat Removal Means Long Lasting Results

As mentioned before, fat shrinkage is not the same as complete fat removal. If you’ve been working out regularly, maintaining a healthy diet and are still looking at a double chin in the mirror, submental liposuction may be the best way to alleviate your source of concern. As the procedure removes excess cellular tissue, you only need to worry about maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regimen in order to retain your ideal definition.

Treatment has been successfully used for many patients

Looking for another reason to consider submental liposuction? Much like traditional facelifts, frequent use and positive testimonials from patients over the years has helped generate high praise for the procedure. At Abadir Associates, we’ve successfully helped countless male and female patients overcome insecurities stemming from the appearance of double chins with this long-lasting treatment.

Ready, Set, Call

Is your double chin undermining your self-confidence? It’s time to take charge of your appearance and tackle submental tissue head on. With submental liposuction, all patients start by coming in for a comprehensive examination, during which our team will identify the best course of action and create a personalized treatment plan that addresses your concerns and needs.
