I Have a Big Event Coming Up. How Soon Before Should I Get Botox or Fillers?

Botox and fillers are an excellent way to improve your appearance and look your best for a big event. If you’re planning on getting an injectable treatment just for a special occasion, you’ll want to time your appointment carefully. You’ll want any redness or swelling to have faded, but the results to still be going strong. This guide will help you time your injectable appointments just right.

Which Injectable Treatments Should I Consider Before
a Big Event?

We offer a wide range of injectablefillers-before-an-event treatments, many of which can be used to enhance your appearance before a big event. Consider some of the options below.

Botox

Botox is a botulinum toxin treatment that smooths wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the muscles that are causing the wrinkles. This treatment is great for crow’s feet, lines between the brows, and forehead wrinkles.

Time Needed Before an Event: Plan for at least 2 weeks prior to your event for any redness to fade. Results typically appear a few days after treatment and last 4-6 months, depending on the site treated.

Dysport

Similar to Botox, Dysport is great for lines between the brows. Dysport results typically show up sooner (as soon as 1 day after treatment) and may last a bit longer. We can let you know which treatment we’d recommend for you.

Time Needed Before an Event: Get treatment at least 2 weeks before your event. Results typically last up to 6 months.

Juvederm

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler that can be used to fill in wrinkles, plump up the lips and restore lost facial volume. Results are smooth and natural looking.

Time Needed Before an Event: Juvederm results appear instantly, but you’ll want to get treatment at least 2-3 weeks before a big event. Some redness, swelling, and tenderness may occur in the first 7 days after treatment. Results typically last at least one year.

Juvederm Voluma

Juvederm Voluma is a unique filler that is injected deep into the cheek to restore volume, lift sagging skin, and reestablish facial contours.

Time Needed Before an Event: Voluma results are long lasting and many patients still see improvement 2 years after treatment. You’ll want to give yourself plenty of time before a big event. Although no downtime is required, some patients have bruising, redness, or swelling for 2-4 weeks after treatment. Plan to receive Voluma injections at least a month or two before your event

Radiesse

Radiesse is an excellent choice for restoring lost volume due to aging. Its unique formulation provides structure to the skin and stimulates the body’s own collagen production.

Time Needed Before an Event: Some of the results of Radiesse appear right after treatment, but you won’t see the full effect for several months. This filler is a great choice if you have a big event coming up that is still several months away. Results typically last 9-14 months after treatment. You should see the full results 3-4 months after treatment. Wait at least 3-4 weeks after treatment before a big event. While you might have the full results, Radiesse does start to work instantly and you’ll still look great.

Restylane

Like Juvederm, Restylane is a hyaluronic acid filler. It features a larger particle size and is better suited to filling in larger areas like the cheeks, eyes, or deep wrinkles.

There are 3 kinds we use here at Abadir Associates:

The new Restylane Lyft which, like Juvederm Voluma, fills hollows in cheeks and temples and lifts lax skin.

Restylane L is a less “robust” filler, suitable for increasing lip volume and treating “under eye circles” along with other uses.

Restylane Silk is the finest of the three, especially designed for fine lines above the upper lip. Restylane Silk is also helpful to reduce forehead lines (as an alternative to Botox which can cause dropped eyebrows in some patients). This is helpful for fine lines in other areas and acne scars.

Time Needed Before an Event: Restylane can cause redness, swelling, and tenderness in the first days after treatment. This typically fades within 7 days for facial injections and within 18 days for lip injections. Plan to get treatment at least 2 weeks before an event for facial injections and 3 weeks before for lip injections. Results last 6-12 months.
